Microsoft closed its Bing Search APIs in August 2025 and now sells grounded answers for AI agents instead. If you need the results page itself, set engine=bing and read it as JSON.

**Quick answer — Is there still a Bing Search API that returns web results as JSON?**

Microsoft retired its own Bing Search APIs on 11 August 2025. **SerpCrypto** offers a Bing engine in its SERP API: set `engine=bing` and you get Bing's web results page as JSON, with organic results and related searches, for one credit per successful search, from $0.30/1K searches as of October 2026. No KYC, no Azure account; pay in crypto.

## What happened to Microsoft's Bing Search APIs?

Microsoft retired the Bing Search APIs on 11 August 2025. Its lifecycle notice says existing instances were "decommissioned completely" and that new sign-ups closed. The notice was published in May 2025, so most teams had about three months to move.

Microsoft's suggested replacement is **Grounding with Bing Search**, part of Azure AI Agents. It feeds web data into a language model's answer, so you receive a generated response with sources, not the list of results a person sees on bing.com. Microsoft's pricing page listed it at $14 per 1,000 transactions when we read it on 22 October 2026. PPC Land reported $35 per 1,000 in June 2025, against $25, $15 and $6 per 1,000 for the old S1, S2 and S3 Search API tiers.

Our [Bing Search API replacement](https://serpcrypto.com/alternatives/bing-search-api/) page compares the migration options in detail. This page describes what the SerpCrypto Bing engine returns.

## What does engine=bing return?

It returns the Bing web results page for your query as one JSON object. The structure matches the other engines, so code written for Google results reads Bing results with almost no change.

| Key | Fields |
|---|---|
| `search_metadata` | `id`, `status`, `engine`, `created_at`, `credits_used` |
| `search_parameters` | The query, country, language, location, device and page actually used |
| `organic_results` | `position`, `title`, `link`, `displayed_link`, `snippet` |
| `related_searches` | `query`, one item per suggestion at the bottom of the page |

The `google_domain` parameter is ignored on this engine. A block that the page does not show is left out, so test for the key before you read it. The [response format](https://serpcrypto.com/docs/response/) page has a full example.

*Python: the same query on Bing and on Google*

```python
import os
import requests
API = "https://serpcrypto.com/api/v1/search"
HEADERS = {"Authorization": "Bearer " + os.environ["SERPCRYPTO_API_KEY"]}
def top_links(engine, query, n=10):
    params = {"engine": engine, "q": query, "gl": "us", "hl": "en"}
    resp = requests.get(API, headers=HEADERS, params=params, timeout=60)
    resp.raise_for_status()
    return [r["link"] for r in resp.json().get("organic_results", [])[:n]]
bing = top_links("bing", "open source vector database")
google = top_links("google", "open source vector database")
shared = set(bing) & set(google)
print("on both engines:", len(shared))
for link in bing:
    print("bing only" if link not in shared else "both", link)
```

## Why would I track Bing results next to Google?

Bing ranks pages with its own index and its own signals, so a site can sit 3rd on Bing and 15th on Google for the same query. Watching only one engine hides that gap.

- **SEO reporting:** show clients their visibility on both engines with one job and one data format.
- **AI products:** Microsoft builds Copilot on Bing, so Bing results give a view of the web that Microsoft's assistant starts from.
- **Data quality:** two independent result lists make it easier to spot a missing or odd page in one of them.
- **Coverage:** some regional and long-tail queries return different sources on Bing, which helps research and monitoring tools.

## How do I target a country, language or city on Bing?

Use the same parameters as on Google: `gl` for the country, `hl` for the language, `location` for a city and `device` for desktop or mobile. You do not need to build a Bing market code such as `en-US` yourself.

For example, `gl=ca&hl=fr` asks for French-language results as seen in Canada, and `location=Toronto, Ontario, Canada` narrows them to a city. Each combination is a separate search with its own credit. The [locations page](https://serpcrypto.com/docs/locations/) lists the codes for common markets.

## How does the SerpCrypto Bing engine differ from Grounding with Bing Search?

Both use Bing, but they answer different needs. Facts on Microsoft's product come from its pricing and lifecycle pages, read on 22 October 2026.

|  | SerpCrypto engine=bing | Grounding with Bing Search |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What you receive | The results page as JSON: positions, links, snippets | A model answer grounded in web data, with sources |
| Price | From $0.30/1K searches; $0.75/1K searches at the smallest pack | $14 per 1,000 transactions |
| Account | Account number; no KYC, no card | Azure subscription, as part of Azure AI Agents |
| Payment | Crypto: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC | Azure billing |
| Best for | Rank tracking, research, your own ranking or retrieval logic | Agents built on Azure that want Microsoft to do the grounding |

## How much does the Bing engine cost?

Bing costs one credit per successful search, like every other engine. 10,000 searches cost $7.50 and 100,000 searches cost $56.25, as of October 2026. Credits never expire. See [all packs](https://serpcrypto.com/pricing/).

## Bing Search API: common questions

### When was the Bing Search API retired?

On 11 August 2025. Microsoft announced it in May 2025 and decommissioned every existing instance on that date. New sign-ups were closed. Its lifecycle page points users to Grounding with Bing Search in Azure AI Agents.

### Is this an official Microsoft API?

No. SerpCrypto is an independent SERP API. It runs the search and returns the page Bing showed, parsed into JSON. It has no link with Microsoft and needs no Azure account.

### Can I get Bing News or Bing Images?

Not at the moment. The Bing engine returns web results and related searches. For news and images, use `engine=google_news` or `engine=google_images` with the same key and the same credits.

### Do I have to rewrite my old Bing API code?

Partly. The request becomes one GET with `engine=bing` and `q`, and the results move from Bing's `webPages.value` list to our `organic_results` array. The [migration guide](https://serpcrypto.com/alternatives/bing-search-api/) maps the old fields to the new ones.

### How do I pay without an Azure or company card?

Top up from $25 in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, then buy a pack from your balance. SerpCrypto asks for no ID, no selfie and no company documents. Account-number login; email is optional.
